The Replicability of a Community-wide Approach

Energizing Small Communities: A Guide to Greater Energy Independence describes the process developed by SEDA-Council of Governments during a community-wide energy independence project for the small community of New Berlin, Union County, PA, from 2009-2012. This how-to manual and its appendix of documents were created for use by small communities to develop and deliver programs that help reduce energy use community-wide and to assist communities in identifying and investing in renewable energy opportunities.

The Guide’s Appendix is a compendium of documents referenced in the Guide that was developed by SEDA-Council of Governments to deliver the energy independence initiative as a pilot project supported by the federal Appalachian Regional Commission. This link provides editable versions of most appendix documents so that you can replicate this project in your community.
