Solar Energy: A Local Option

There is a common misconception that an area must be sunny and warm year-round in order to be suitable to harness solar energy. However, just about everywhere in the United States has satisfactory conditions for solar panels. For example, Germany is the largest user of solar energy in the world, and it has 40% less natural capability to harness solar than Pennsylvania. Loyalsock Township of Lycoming County recently took advantage of the favorable conditions for solar energy by installing panels on the roof of their municipal building, and are now seeing deep savings in their electric bills.
